Research
Research Interests
Dr. Daniels research is focused on trauma and the impacts it has on individuals and family systems both long term and short term. Dr. Daniels specifically measures complex trauma and racial trauma and the trauma responses in the form of, Depression, Anxiety, and Eating Disorders. Dr. Daniels assesses the experience of clients with these experiences in counseling as a means to contribute to the counseling literature focused on implementing more evidence based, resiliency focused, trauma-informed care. Specific to resilience as a construct, Dr. Daniels has found that many individuals who experience trauma have shown vast amounts of resilience. Therefore, she continues to study what factors lead to resilience despite the experience of trauma, I plan to develop preventive methods and programs for children actively experiencing complex trauma. Dr. Daniels also has a research emphasis on issues of cultural humility and awareness such as; racial trauma, anti-racism in counseling, advocacy, and social justice. Clinically, Dr. Daniels is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Similar to her research interests, her clinical practice is focused on trauma specifically, childhood and complex trauma, crisis, and adult mental health. she possesses a wide range of clinical experience, with adults experiencing severe mental health concerns, college students in multiple settings, children, adolescents & families in mental health agencies and school settings. She has received training and supervision in trauma-informed care and family systems theories, which grounds her counseling approach and has had a significant impact on her teaching and supervision. Other areas of research: Depression, Eating Disorders, Crises & Suicide, Advocacy, Counselor Education & Supervision
