Ms. Giacobbe has had over 14 years of experience managing various research projects from the state of NJ, NIDILRR, NIH and NIMH that focused its research on severe mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, schizoaffective disorders, as well as substance abuse, trauma, PTSD, personality disorders, smoking cessation, college students with psychiatric disabilities, Supported Housing, Supported Employment and Supported Education. Ms. Giacobbe's main area of focus and area of speciality is in trauma and PTSD.

Giovanna Giacobbe  7/22/19 Giovanna Giacobbe, is a Faculty Lecturer for Rutgers University in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and also serves as a supervisor and consultant on trauma research grants with supported employment and with the NJ State Psychiatric Hospitals. Ms. Giacobbe has had over 14 years of experience managing various research projects from the state of NJ, NIDILRR, NIH and NIMH that focused its research on severe mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, schizoaffective disorders, as well as substance abuse, trauma, PTSD, personality disorders, smoking cessation, college students with psychiatric disabilities, Supported Housing, Supported Employment and Supported Education. Ms. Giacobbe currently lectures graduate students in the Crisis, Disaster, and Trauma Counseling Course (PSRT5155) Ms. Giacobbe has had over 8 years of experience working with trauma and PTSD. She currently serves as a trauma consultant for the NJ State Psychiatric Hospitals. In this role she has authored a Stage 1 Trauma Treatment Manual called: Managing Difficult Life Experiences (MDLE). Additionally, she modified and adapted a trauma manual called the “Trauma Addictions Mental Health and Recovery” (TAMAR) treatment manual. The new manual is tailored for the psychiatric inpatient population and is now named NJ-TAMAR. Ms. Giacobbe has also served as a trauma clinician at Trenton State Psychiatric Hospital implementing the NJ-TAMAR program. Ms. Giacobbe is also responsible for training all NJ State Psychiatric clinicians on NJ-TAMAR manual and trauma care at Trenton State Psychiatric Hospital, Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, Greystone Psychiatric Hospital and Ann Klein Forensic Center. Ms. Giacobbe also served as a clinical and assessment supervisor and trainer for research assistants on a PTSD research grant called “Treating Hidden Barriers to Employment: Integrated Treatment for PTSD in Supported Employment”. She also served as a PTSD Clinician for this research study. Additionally, Ms. Giacobbe also serves as a co-chair for the New Jersey Division of Health Treating Trauma Steering Committee.
