Title Details
Jessica Gomes DHSc, PA-C  8/27/20 Dr. Gomes joined the Rutgers Physician Assistant Program faculty in January 2019. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2008 and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2012. Dr. Gomes earned her Doctor of Health Science (D.H.Sc.) with a concentration in Clinical Functional and Integrative Medicine from the University of Bridgeport in December 2023. Her clinical background encompasses Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Urgent Care, Primary Care, and Hematology/Oncology. She has served in various roles, including as an Emergency Room Physician Assistant at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, a Cardiology and Internal Medicine Physician Assistant at Garden State Cardiovascular Specialists, and a Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant at Regional Cancer Care Associates. Dr. Gomes is deeply involved in the academic development of Physician Assistant students at Rutgers. She is responsible for the module curriculum and serves as the Co-Director for the Rutgers PA PANCE/PANRE Board Review. Her research interests include Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, improving patient care outcomes, the gut microbiome, preventative medicine, lifestyle medicine, functional medicine, integrative medicine, and physician assistant clinical education and training. Dr. Gomes is also dedicated to community service, volunteering at the HOPE Clinic in Plainfield, NJ. She has been an active member and leader in various professional organizations, including the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) and the New Jersey State Society of Physician Assistants. Her contributions to the community extend to roles such as Co-Leader of the Monroe Girl Scout Community Troop and Board Secretary of the Monroe Township Soccer Club. In addition to her clinical and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Gomes has authored several publications and presentations on topics ranging from AI and cardiology to integrative medicine. She is committed to advancing the field of Physician Assistant education through innovative teaching methods and research.
