Julie O'Sullivan Maillet  9-17-19 Julie OSullivan Maillet, Ph.D., R.D., FADA, FASAHP is professor in the Department of Clinical and Preventive Nutrition Sciences. She served as the Interim Dean of UMDNJ-SHRP and then Rutgers-SHRP from 2008 to 2015. Julie had been Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research at the School for 20 years. An alumni of UMDNJ, she graduated from the clinical dietetic internship in 1976. Her BS, MA and Ph.D. are from New York University (NYU), each with an emphasis of nutrition. Julie started her career as a food service worker and moved up to food service supervisor and manager and student dietitian while living in Maine. After completing her undergraduate degree at NYU and internship at CMDNJ, she served as a Women Infant and Child Care dietitian, a community and renal nutritionist, and chief clinical dietitian at University Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She served as both the director of the SHRP dietetic internship and coordinated dietetic programs, as well as Chair of the Department of Primary Care. She has been a tenured faculty at UMDNJ-SHRP since 1989. Previously she served as adjunct faculty at New York University. Julie has been actively involved in numerous associations including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics( formerly American Dietetic Association), The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the Association for Schools of Allied Health Professions. She is also serving on NAACLS and CAAHEP, both accrediation agencies. She served as the president of the American Dietetic Association. Julies publication and presentation lists are numerous focusing on allied health clinical education, ethics and feeding, clinical dietetics and the role of various levels of dietetic professionals in quality healthcare. Julie has provided leadership to SHP in specialty and advanced level practice across allied health as well as distance education. If asked her major accomplishments beyond nutrition, the answer is the enrichment program exposing high school students to health career for thousands of students over more than 15 years and advancing access to education for working professionals through distance education opportunities.
